Ran across this knife today in collection, I noticed that there is an extra E in this spelling of Barnsley on the tang. It is spelled Barnesley Bros Cutlery. I don't reckon that there were 2 cutlers in Monette with that similar of names. So, I am assuming this is fake. What do you more knowledgeable people think?

The knife looks good to me. Maybe a mistake on a new stamping die?

Go here, where a few people posted knives with the same spelling on the tang, and even a picture of the factory with that spelling, so I don't think it's a fake at all...

Not a brand that I am familiar with, but I see no evidence of tampering. If the knife were buffed and polished I might suspect it a little, but it looks to have wear marks throughout that are consistent with an old knife that has been carried and gently used.
I believe it is legitimate.

It wouldn’t be the first die with a typo. Looks legit.

Not fake, nice old knife, and a good stamp to have imo, there is some interesting history concerning the Barnesley brothers. I think I made a post a couple of years ago with my 1 and only Barnesley, and I mentioned the 2 different spellings. At any rate, here is some info for you.....

Thanks to everyone who replied, great to see the knife is not a fake and actually has some pretty good history behind it!
