Weak spring on Bear and Son auto or something else

Picked this up at SMKW a few years back and I tried it before I bought it and then bought it knowing that it didn't open fast and seemed to just barely open when I pushed the button. I was just wanting It so bad and I figured it would get better with a little oil. But it didn't and it still is like that. Is there anything I can do to make it work better that doesn't involve taking the knife apart because I am not mechanical at all?

Try 1 drop of Quick Release oil on the pivot, M-man, if that's the problem it will do the trick. ::nod::

Bear and Son has a reputation for making faulty knives. I have 2 of their folders and they both have problems.

If that's the case, then all the Q.R. oil in the world won't help! ::shrug::

Hi I bought the same knife when they first came out and it would only open half way. I bought it around 2020 and came across it earlier this year and sent it back to bear saying it didn’t open all the way from new I received it back after 6 weeks after I complained where’s my knife.I only did this because I bought the same knife with rosewood handles with the same problem got it back within 2 weeks fired like it should have.anyway they sent it back and it works perfectly like an auto knife should. Send it back to bear they will make it work like it should.

Any chance that the front pivot screw has been over-tightened? From your picture, it looks like it takes a torx bit.

Good thought, Herb, and very possibly the solution. ::tu::

Thank you for the help. I like the knife a lot I just want it to function properly.

I'll try that before I send it off
