All About Pocket Knives

I have not worked on knives in a couple of months or more, so I have really been missing it.
I have repaired two knives at home in the last few weeks, just sitting in my bedroom, so I am including them in this post as well: I found screws that fit this SOG Aegis that Steamboat Willie sent me in the 2024 POS exchange.
He also gifted me this Leatherman 300 multitool. The blades were loose inside of one handle. I finally determined that there was a blade tool that was missing. It already has everything that I need, and I had no blades for it, so I installed a washer as a spacer. It is a split "lockwasher", and it compressed ever so slightly to fill that gap perfectly! Now I need to make a good sheath for it and carry it for work!

My daughter loves a Kershaw Storm (her favorite TV character carried one), and I had gotten one for her that was missing the clip and the grip inserts. Then later in eBay I found one that was complete but had a BAD chip in the blade. I put all of the good parts into hers, then ground out the chip from the blade and built this from the bad parts. It is as ugly as home-made sin, but looks functional.

Then lastly is this Ulster Barlow that was also in the POS box from Steamboat Willie. I have carried it a few times, but the blade tangs were worn out and it had very little snap at all. So today I removed both blades and "moved the holes" in them. The knife looks the same, but oh my does it work better now! I set up a tripod and filmed the repair start-to-finish. I will try to edit and post the video to Youtube in the next several days, if the shots are useable. If it works out, then I will post a link.

I did one more knife today, but will put it in another post.
All in all, I had a fun day today!

Nice work, Rev, you certainly have some credible skills, along with great patience to wait that long to find screws. If that had been me,....
I love your SOG, I hadn't seen that model prior to yours, although, I do have a similar model I like a lot. They're such solidly made knives of which I own about 6 and are most happy with.

Forgive me for asking, but are you laid-up since you're sitting in your bedroom the last few weeks? I hadn't read anything so that's why I ask.

No, I have been well enough, but have been working very long hours. Most days I come home, spend a few minutes with the family, and scroll on the phone for a little bit before bedtime.
My knife shop is over at my Dad's house, but on some of the easier jobs that don't require a lot of tools, I may sit on the edge of my bed or at the kitchen table and replace a screw or something like that.

I'm glad you're able to do a little knife work even though you can't get to your shop.

My friend Johnny Fain (jonet143) used to do some knife work setting in his recliner.
He had a large plastic cutting board that he mounted a small vice on to and that's where he did most of his work, from his easy chair. He had health issues and couldn't get out
into a shop. I still have a knife that he customized and sent to me.

'"parts knife" or a "one-off custom"?

"One-off custom" is a generous term, but I like it.
It sounds better than "use-it-a-while-disposable".
