Here's an old Belgian Switchblade Sabre

That's quite interesting, BTSM, I've never seen anything like that.

Wow! How big is it? Any idea what the handle is? History? Very cool.

That is cool! Any markings? I cannot quite tell the length but seems a safe bet I'd have some explaining to do if I got caught carrying that in my state.

More like a switchblade sword. lol

There was an article in Knives Magazine in 2021 about those. Very interesting and well written article. Congrats on having one.

Looks like it's 20" long opened.
Handle is Ivory. (damaged)
Marking is "Arnold" "Namur"
Circa 1840 (maybe)

Got ya. Yup them Ka-bar Grizzlys with blade etch are so common hard to understand why you would even bother to take a picture. LOL. SUPER knives!

The Switchblade Sabre is spring loaded, and opens with considerable force. One of those "hang on tight" situations.
Have failed to get the video loaded the last 3 days, and back to still pictures.

Besides the large kick spring, the pushbutton (large metal slab) has it's own spring to hold the gate closed over the back of the blade.
A square "pin in hole" lock holds the blade open.
Pushing the spoon shaped lever releases the blade.

Totally thought i would be looking at a Japanese Sabre brand thing when I clicked on this thread. Totally shocked to see this bad boy instead. That's so cool.

That is the Large Grizzly
I bought the Large Grizzly and my Small Grizzly together from Jim Parker back in the 1980's.
Being a blue collar worker, that was a 2 year bank loan for me.

Although I saw it before, Mike, it looks even nicer in these shots, but a video would ice the cake for sure, please keep trying we'd love to see that big ole' blade deploying, you weird knife guy you! lol!
