It has internal springs. Can’t tell for sure from your picture but many had a file blade, with a tip suitable for cleaning fingernails and managing cuticles. A search here for “lobster” will find similar examples. Looks like jigged bone covers. Not sure if that’s what you wanted to know but if not, be more specific. Thank you Ken you answered my question without me even asking I was so tired last night that I forgot to ask about the file part of it. I was wondering if it did come out to a point and it must have. It’s broke off the top you can still file your nails down but you can’t pick them out I reckon. Yes they contracted with Schrade Cut Co along with a number of other knife companies. Your knife appears to be the old Schrade Cut Co model 8653T. The T signify the nickel silver tips at the ends of the handles. Probably made some time between 1905 and 1946. The tang stamp would probably narrow it down closer but i can't read it at all.
