All About Pocket Knives

Wife took me to 100-mile garage sales here in Oklahoma this weekend - I really had to go to keep an eye on her. But, I did find me a couple of goodies along the way. Here are two of them:

1) a Norton Bear Brand Sharpening Stone, Oil Filled; says to use Bear Oil with it. Use just a little, not a grove or dip in it.
2) is a General Electric Special Silicon Carbide Stone for Honing cemented carbide tools. I don't think this one has ever seen a tool, not a scratch on it. (not exactly sure what I use this one for) any thoughts?

But at 50 cents each, I had to snag them.

The Norton stone is a good buy. It looks like it's at least 6" long. If you want to use oil with it I would suggest mineral oil.
Is the stone two sided? Personally, I like to use water on my stones. I think it allows the stone to cut better.

The Silicon Carbide might be used for sharpening fish hooks or to sweeten up an edge on your knife.
