Read the knife, dummy!

That thread title is directed at me, LOL. While at a knife show Saturday, I picked up this boys knife. It had all the look of a proper sheffield knife, with blade etch, "No. 6", and hallmarks on the pile side tang. If I had only read the tang a little better, it would have tipped me off that Wazirabad is a city in Pakistan. I have read of many Pakistan knives made to look like Sheffield knives.

It's a decently put together knife, so I still like it, but probably at less than what I paid for it. A little disappointing too that the dealer, who I have seen at other shows and has nice stuff, so I feel he's knowledgeable enough, was selling me the Rodgers story along with the knife. I realize it's not his job to set a buyer straight if they're being dumb (like me), so I did earn the lesson I got. Fortunately, it wasn't a very painful lesson to my wallet.

Unfortunately, sometimes I get caught up in the excitement of the chase. Anyways, here is the knife...

If anyone else has a dummy story (I can't be the only one, LOL), please feel free to share. We can drown our sorrows together. ::facepalm::

After you point it out, I can see Wazirabad, but I probably would have missed it too.

Not such a bad knife, Glenn, I'm sure you'll find a use for it.

I had a similar situation recently with this knife. I was in such a hurry to buy it,("It's big, it has a single spear-point blade, I gotta have it") that I failed to read the most important information in the description, "Reproduction of". ::dang::
It's still a really nice well made big ole' folder, just not the original I thought it was. ::doh:: The price was reasonable though! Cheers!

It seems that happens to me every time I have a little extra money in some form or fashion. How much you want for it, I know it's inexpensive. :D
