All About Pocket Knives

I made this impulse buy at a very small gunshow in 2017 here in Ohio. My little bit of research shows there was a Pogue and Miller hardware store in Richmond, Indiana during the 1880's and into the 1890's. That's about 40 miles away from where i live so it's kinda fun to think that it spent it's whole life in the area!
The knife is well used but still pretty much complete except for the toothpick thing which is missing. Closed size is 3 1/2 inches

Cool knife and even better history! I wonder if the tooth pick was bone or metal? Would a Swiss army one fit in there?

A great find and knife and cool that it is around where you grew up. Knife is in great condition as well.

Thanks everyone. Took the knife out today for pictures and discovered it had a bleeder(?) blade, the blade half opened at the bottom. Only took me 7 years to discover it!

Nice old horseman’s knife! That “bleeder” blade is usually called a fleam. You may know already but the other tools include a hoof pick, an awl for repairing leather harness, a corkscrew for opening small jars of veterinary salves and medicines. Great piece of history and hard to find in good condition - take good care of it.

Those knife blades have been replaced at some point in it's life.

Knife started out most likely being made in England.
