I don't know Case as well as I did, but the dealer has been beyond reproach.

I'm no expert, but I have my doubts about this knife too. I don't think the pattern 85 doctor's knife was ever handled in stag (but I'm not 100% sure) and I have concerns about the tang stamp. On both tangs the letter C is touching the A and none of my Case tested knives look like that and I think the stamp looks to be cold stamped. But, I could be totally wrong about all of this.

I passed on this one too. Although a well-respected seller, I have my doubts on the knife’s authenticity. If I have any doubts I move on. The knife doesn’t agree with itself IMHO. The stag covers show evidence they were on the knife when it was hafted - see the “sucking out” on the bolster which corresponds with the adjacent depressed area on the stag. On the other hand that looks like a “USA era” open C flat top S shield - there’s not a really good straight-on picture showing the shield. ::shrug:: All that before even getting to the stamp.

The seller’s pictures, for posterity.

Fake...made most likely out of Queen parts. Very similar to the fake Tested doc with Christmas tree handles that someone posted on AAPK recently.

Maybe the seller bought this knife from someone and did not
look at it closely??

Unless he just changed it, it says Parts Knife in the description..

I've always found Sanders to be very up-front about his knives..

"Parts knife"...as most of you might recall there have been several knives listed on ebay stating " assembled with parts left over from an earlier manufacture of older knives......

Since most seller’s descriptions on eBay are now totally worthless AI generated drivel, I’ve quit bothering to read them. Especially when the knife is a fake.

You are exactly right Ken. I called an ebayers attention to the long "bull" narrative describing his knife and he responded with " I didn't write that...ebay did. ::ds:: ::dang::
