All About Pocket Knives

Picked up these in estate sales over the last few years. Any information on whether Remington's are USA made or from China will be appreciated. Only thing I am sure of is the R1178 Bullet Knife is from 1991, sticker on the back of the box.

Believe knives up to 2007 were made by Camillus and so were USA made.

It's pretty simple. If Remington, and made in China, they are stamped China.

Those sure look like Camillus made knives. I have a small collection of them. USA should be in the faux Remington tang stamp. Also, if the papers are still in the boxes, they will instruct you to contact Camillus for warranty repair. Many of them were sold as collector items and a high percentage of them remain in unused condition. In hind sight their original owners would have gotten more value out of them by using them. They're good knives.

you mean vs selling them at an estate sale or their resale is no good and might as well use them? Because he didn't say how much he paid?

Too many of most models still exist in excellent to like new condition for them to have much collector value and the mass market has turned away from two hand opening traditional knives. They are still less expensive than modern Case traditional knives. Half to two thirds price is in the ball park for most of them. You give up Case's choil and finish but get 1095 carbon or 440A blades that are as good as Case's CV carbon and surgical stainless. I'd say the same about knives Camillus stamped their own brand on. All else being equal Camillus made Bucks with the same 440A blades and no better fitting or finish fetch higher bids. johns7076 getting lucky at estate sales is a seperate issue and does not effect their present value or how their first owner could have gotten best value out of the dollars he spent.

Appreciate the comments on my Remingtons. There are papers in each box, at least one refers to sending to Camillus for repair, the rest are for Remington repair.
