All About Pocket Knives

Raining this morning and kind of bored so decided to go through another box of my dads' knife stuff that mom has passed along to me. Found this sharpening stone, seems fairly old but the stone doesn't look to have been used much. Paperwork indicates a type 1351 soft Arkansas. Great feeling to have an item of my dads' such as this.

Fortunate for you to have something from your dad.

It's old all right, imagine how old it was before Ka-Bar whittled it into a pebble.
Maybe not used much because of its size. Soft Arkansas stones are good sharpening stones in that grit grade.
Larger ones (6 to 8 inches) are greatly more efficient. I hope you use stones.

Looks like a nice little stone to do a quick touch up. Glad you got
something your dad owned.

I have couple cheap combination stones and couple diamond plates to use. Have to see how well I can use dad's natural stones. Picture of some more of his stones after I cleaned and degreased them. Thanks for the Welcome to the forum.
