Now that auto's are legal in PA ... recommendations ?

I just learned auto's are legal in PA ... so I'd like to dip my toes. Any recommendations on imports in the $50 or so range that are respectable and would be good to get me started ?

Seems the general consensus here for a budget auto is the Boker Kalashnikov family, and I agree. I still have yet to get one myself. I'd probably have gotten one already if my local knife store sold them; but as of late, my local knife store is moving a lot of its offerings more and more upscale (the owner is a big fan of things like Sebenza, Harsey, and William Henry)

Personally, I require a safety switch on autos that I’m going to carry in my pocket but that is just my own personal preference.
Aside from that. I agree with the Boker Kalishnikov suggestion. I have one and it’s well made. The price is just the icing on the cake.

Imports you say? Look at Wish.com from China. For 50.00 you can buy two or three! They work,they are sharp and they have all kinds.

You can find them in many online stores, but do some shopping cuz the price can fluctuate by as much as $20. from store to store.
US$50. - $60. is a good price!
Or, as Smitty suggested, for something more exotic,

There's a copy of the AK-47 I was referring to, John, in an AAPK store right now, # 94582 / $40. + $10. shipping. Just click-on the "Automatic Knives" tab on the left and start scrolling, it's close to the bottom of the first page. That's a great price!

Which ones did you buy?. I bought a Microtech last after watching that guy pound it through a 2x4. It seem great and sharp. I’m not going to use it for wood working anyway.The only beef I had with two of their vendors is they don’t always send the exact one you buy. The one they send is good but GEEE.

I saw a YouTube video with a young blond woman and a hidden release model. She made it look really good. I think it’s made here in the USA.? Nice price too.

Yep, Melissa Miller is quite the outdoors woman.
She knows more about the outdoors, knives, and guns as well as many other aspects of living in the great outdoors than plenty of men.
I've watched some of her videos and she is impressive in her knowledge of these things, and she speaks with complete conviction about them.
She's not too hard on the eyes either!

I bought fugesi copies of benchmade and protech auto's with the safety lock feature - seems like a good bet as last thing i need is the blade flipping open in my pocket when my keys hit the button as I'm getting out of the recliner - ouch !!).
I've heard these knockoffs may not get through customs and could be confiscated ... anybody have any experiences with this happening ?

I have got all but one knife but I’m in the USA. (Wi.) I think some postal employee took it because it was in country when it stopped moving. I was refunded immediately.

I doubt that the fact your knives are clones, John, will affect their eligibility with Customs, and I seriously doubt there are very many Customs agents who would actually know the difference anyway, so you should be good. I base my statement on the fact that your avatar says "Pennsyltucky, which I assume is half way between Pennsylvania and Kentucky in the US.
Now, if they were coming to Canada.....

Marco - Thanks for the info - makes sense what you said about customs. "Pennsyltucky" is a badge of honor amongst rural Pennsylvanians ... it's what the urban Jersey-ites I work with refer to country folks like me who live across the border...
