All About Pocket Knives

Very recently, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, it will be added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is an UNBRANDED, two blades, 4" closed, 6 3/4" with rounded blade open, 7" with other blade open, two springs, brass liners, square non-brass bolsters, pocket knife. I can NOT see or find ANY evidence that this pocket knife ever had ANY kind of marking(s) or stamp(s). Both blades have long pulls. Both blades have soft half stops, but both blades have a good opening and closing snap. Even with the rounded blade, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did need a very minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is. So, am I a pocket knife made in the good old U.S. of A.? Or, am I a foreign born pocket knife? If I am from the U.S.A., what company? If I am foreign born, what country?

Likely a mystery that will never be solved. My vote is born in the USA. Bone reminds me of Camillus.

Agree on both counts. It looks too new to be pre-1890 tariff act so probably American made. No “U.S.A.” stamp would mean pre-1965. And looks like Camillus bone. Probably never know for sure though.

I would consider it as a moose pattern myself.

I agree with it being a "moose" pattern.

It looks a lot like this case from an old post by jdub

The OP knife is either Camillus or Ulster - 1950's era. Both companies made similar patterns with that type of Rogers bone handle material.

My main concern was that it was NOT made in the U.S.A.
So far, my concern has been eased.

Among all you more expert members I can only write this hopping to learn from your reactions. At least in more recent decades the blade pivot pins passed all the way through the bolsters in U.S. made Camillus folders. While buffing the ends of nickle silver pins flush to the bolsters made them less obvious I can usually see the ends of the pins. If there's any hint of an exposed pin in the original poster's moose it is the clip blade's pivot pin in the second picture and that might be just another scratch. Also, did Camillus use such a slender spear in their moose?

Looking at the OP knife again, I believe that it was made by Ulster. Look at the photos of this stockman that I sold recently. Blade grinds and swedges and handles look the same.

This CAMILLUS, SHORT-LINE tang stamp, Moose pattern pocket knife is currently on ebay.
It makes me think that mine, the original post and below, is also a CAMILLUS.
But.....maybe not?
The bolsters on both knives are slightly different.
There also appears to be a difference in blade pulls.

Repeating myself, the blade pivot pins in folders made by the American Camillus factory extend all the way through the bolsters. Their ends are visible in the pictures of the old Camillus knives you found on ebay. The blade pivot pins in your moose seat in blind holes in the inside of its bolsters. That basic difference in manufacture and assembly is more difinitive than similar bolster or blade or nail nick shapes or bone jigging or color.

The pivot pin in the left bolster is barely visible.
The pivot pin in the right bolster is clearly visible.
The pivot pins in the bolsters on the other handle side, are NOT visible.
