All About Pocket Knives

This coming weekend is the Grand Island Ne gunshow at the State Fairgrounds. Feb 3-4. There is usually 4-5 of us knife guys set up with antique to modern knives. A couple of good custom knife makers, Jon Moore is one that come to mind. So if you’re within driving distance, swing on by. It’s an around a 350 table gunshow.

Gun shows here used to be fabulous, especially those put on three times a year by The Alabama Gun Collectors Association. There were fantastic displays of collections of some really beautiful and historically significant firearms. Years ago, my dad and I set up an S&W collection of modestly valued revolvers and one 35 cal semi-auto. It was great times.

Now, there are virtually zero collections on display. I think the collectors are fearful of revealing what they own and having their names identified with them.

It's mostly AR's and other tactical items an accoutrements now.

They asked me to display my Robeson collection. I wasn't averse to it, but never got around to doing it.

True that the nature of the shows has changed significantly. Unfortunately at lot has changed in our society too. Probably right that folks don’t care to display their collection for any number of reasons. A few years back I displayed my collection of WW II daggers. Of the hundreds that went by the display only a couple of people knew and appreciated what the display was. Tables have gotten expensive and the display took up selling space for no real gain. Too bad but that’s where we are. The risks of thieft or damage to valuable guns is too great to overcome the pride of showing em off
