All About Pocket Knives

I've got this folder and the only stamp is Master Knives. It measures 7 7/8 OAL. The steel is nice and has great fit and finish. I am guessing Asian. Maybe Japanese? Has anyone heard of these? Insight appreciated.

Nice looking knife! Looks like the thumb stud is missing; easy fix. I would say Chinese.

Tks KnifeKnut! It is a bad ass little knife. You are right.. there was a thumb stud at some point. I can see a faint circular imprint and a bevel on the other side. I will try to fashion something. The odd thing is there is no spring assist. But the tolerances seem good and maybe pure manual action with the stud will make it open in one flick. It could well be Chinese. The figure on the stamp sure looks Asian. The knife looks like it was never used or carried and its just a good little knife. I got this in a lot with an RG-24 and a handful of 90s CI knives.

Compass Industies made great knives; I have several. Is the Rigid a Japanese model?

It sure is. I've been learning about the Japanese vintage knives. Those made in Seki back in the day were really good. Here are a few pics of the Rigid and a CI 522 falcon.

I have that toothpick knife as well. Got it at the flea market 20 years plus ago. It’s well built and holds a decent edge. I lost the thumb stud on it as well. I found a stainless screw and peined it on as a replacement. This is the knife I carry to the beach to cut limes, to the creek if I’m wading or other places where I don’t want to carry my usual edc.

Good to see someone else who has one of these great little knives. Except for the thumb studs that seem to fall off, these are well done. I am going to carry mine similar to how you use yours. Its perfect for fishing, hitting the beach, etc.
