All About Pocket Knives

I have used only a small amount of Culpepper dyed and jigged bone and have found it to be very good stuff for rehandles. I have used some of their amber, brown, and blue dyed slabs, but never any red. Those of you who have used Culpepper bone more than I have, do you know if they have anything like this Case red bone that would be already dyed and jigged and what do they call it? Kind of hard to tell colors from a web page.

That appears to be Rogers “Indian Trail” aka worm-groove jigged bone. What a shame the pile side cover is broken. Sorry I can’t answer where you can find anything similar today, but if you decide to replace it those existing slabs are probably worth salvaging. It’s likely someone will want them, if you don’t. They might make some very nice covers for a smaller framed knife.

They have crimson and ruby red, but it is VERY red, IMO.

I don't think there is much of a close match

I use alot of the Crimson.

That doesnt answer my question if Culpepper makes a dyed bone that would be close to matching the Case red bone as in the pictures I posted.

No would be that answer you would have to replace both sides.

I agree, there's nothing that Culpeper makes that is close to that old Case Redbone. About the closest I have seen that they produce would be Amber and that can vary from batch to batch. Some of the older pieces of Amber bone I have in stock are different hues of Amber then some of the current bone handles they are producing.
I used to buy a lot of Culpeper handles, especially when they were on sale. Looking back over the years, I can see there is a good deal of variation from year to year and batch to batch, not only in the Amber bone but in some of the other colors as well.

it is second cut red bone. look for a wore out knife or one with a broke blade as a handle donor

I have been looking lately at gun shows, but it's a long shot.

Call Culpeppers and ask. Send them those pictures. I’ve always found them to be very helpful. Wouldn’t hurt to try a call.
