Small 4-blade Sheffield C.B.R. Best Steel Knife

I have a small 4-blade knife approx... 2 3/4 inches closed and the knife appears to have black ebony handles??...I can't tell
The amazing thing about the knife is the shield; It appears to be gold, or looks golden in color on the black handles
I have looked in my books and can't any information on this knife; I'm sure somebody has some information
on this old extremely well made gentleman's knife...I have heard of cast steel but is that another name for best steel?
I would welcome all the information available

Thank you doglegg....I was trying find out what C.B. R. stands for; also what cutlery made the knife and age
If the scissors has any reference; then maybe early 1900's
The same letters C.B.R. was on a German made knife
Hopefully somene will have this information and we will us a great history lesson

Are you sure that is ebony? Kinda looks like black composite that has shrunk...

My guess would be that this knife was made by the German firm that you alluded to, C.B.R., and that the stamp is to inform that it was constructed with Sheffield Steel. Just a guess, and I have no info on what C.B.R. stands for.
The link to the scissors states that they were made in England, but from what I see on the pictures, there is nothing to definitively verify country of origin.

After looking at the handles I believe they are black composite; there is a crack at the pin...looks as if they have shrunk some also....

I did find a knife on ebay that was stamped (Best Steel C.B.R. Solingen) another blade has a circle Germany stamp
The scissors has the same stamp as the knife.... Sheffield C.B.R. best steel....They could very well be made in Germany

After checking some knives I did find another little half-whittler bone handled knife no shield; stamped both blades Best Steel C.B.R. Germany
Whatever C.B.R. stands for its seems to have meaning; and agreeable with both England and Germany...

Although you don't know much about C B R you know more than he rest of us. The chase is part of the fun.

I don't think we will ever know...But if you check the tang stamps they are different one curved the other other straight
the fonts are different could and be two different time periods ect....
I guess some things remain a mystery...thanks for being part of the chase
