Picked this up last week at a local store. The blade says 5347 but as you can see in the picture there is a label on it that says 58132 72.05. Also engraved inside the knife on the liner it says Cproto. I’m curious why someone would put this label on the blade. Any info would help thanks.

5347 is the pattern number (5-stag/3-blades/47-pattern) and 58132 is the item number Case would have put on the box. 72.05 may be the price.

Inside the liner says Proto, inside the Case “Long-tail C” trademark. This is how Case marks prototype knives. Since the 5347 pattern has been made by Case for decades, my guess is it may have been a prototype for the laser-engraved Case symbol on the handle cover. ::shrug::

And before you ask, some collect those “prototypes” and may pay a premium for one. Case certainly hopes so anyway.
