All About Pocket Knives

Again in the small knife category is another gentlemen's knife..... this knife handles are marked 63 sterling and the blades are marked
Vom Cleff & Co. Germany.... Lion Cutlery Warranted with pic of a Lion on the blade...This knife is very well made and condition is near mint
Goins' Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings pg.287 gives the date for this knife as 1885-1926...this knife is approx 3 inches counting the bale..
The liners are milled...I'm not familiar with pattern on the handles what art period...
I would like more infomation on this knife any and all welcome

Can you post a pic of the sterling mark? It should say 925. Not sure what the 63 is.

One side of the handle is stamped Sterling ....the other is 63 Sterling...That is a good question not sure what the reference is?
I checked the weight of the knife 18.21 grams...Could the 63 mean silver content or something to do with the exchange rate?
Could that number be the pattern or style reference for the knife?
Hopefully someone could answer this mystery question?

I'd think the 63 was more like a pattern number for the handle, It most certainly has nothing to do with silver content. "Rate of exchange" has never been stamped on any precious metal item, don't know where you came up with that one.

Lol.....That is something I was just guessing at!!
