I've seen that mark ("Stiletto" over "Italy") attributed to three different Beltrames (Renzo, Frank, Armando), by people I consider to be knowledgeable on Italian stiletto switchblades.

So I think you may never know who made it. This is not uncommon with Italian stilettos. Kinda like the ones simply marked "Rostfrei".

Seeking the identification of Italian stilettos is often a matter of faith, either you believe the person providing the information or you don't. Hard proof like documentation is very rare.

Here's the best I've got- Awhile back a guy on another switchblade forum contacted Frank Beltrame to ask about tang stamps, and someone, either Frank or his daughter, emailed back that "STILETTO" over "ITALY" was used by Frank between 1996 and 2004, and that Armando Beltrame also used the stamp during 1996.

I have no reason to doubt what the guy said. But again, it's all about faith and if you choose to believe it.

When I look at the knife, all I personally feel comfortable saying with confidence, based on my assumption that the bolsters are stainless steel, is that it was made in the 1970's or after. Because to my knowledge the Italians started using stainless steel bolsters in the 1970's.

When did they quit using full rear liners?
