Is there a way to identify genuine AKC switch blades? The $10 version from DH Gate looks like any other switch blade to me. ::shrug::

Yes. A genuine AKC weather AKC World or Italy/traditional will have a tang stamp that has the lettering "hollow" rather than "filled in" for lack of a better description. Refer to pics I have attached...
(Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. My phone is very low end.)

DH Gate's motto should be, "Selling fakery is what we do best." ::mdm::

Is this also true for the Bill DeShivs AKC Leverletto's? I have several and the print is solid (filled in) but my other AKC knives do have the "hollow" print that you mentioned.

I'm trying to get confirmation on this from AKC directly, but I've been told that the AKC World knives often have the "filled in" tang mark.

I'm confused about these descriptions. What does filled in and hollow mean?? Do you mean etched and deep stamped?

Eric, I think they mean the letters are outlined in one and not the other, from what I see.

The link seems to be broke. It looks like most of the top knives on the AKC page are "odd." Does AKC really put out knives that have no stamp or mark?

I don't know. I've seen a lot of AKC switch blades for sale lately and wondered how to tell the counterfeits from the real ones.

Maybe there are many ways. Probably one of those would be if a knife is made in China and doesn't have a stamp or makers mark, it is not a real AKC.

Has anyone bought any of the many keychain knives? The ones with stag handles and inox stamps look right. Then there are also ones like these.

It doesn't look like there is a stamp. The description also says they are handmade. How can even a small knife be just $20 if it was hand made in Italy?
