All About Pocket Knives

Have a pocket knife that looks fancy. I believe it says Providence cutlery co . Info and value on such knife.

In general Providence made lower end inexpensive knives, using inexpensive materials (the steel in the blades is good) and inexpensive construction methods. Yours is an unusual example but I can’t tell from the pictures if the handle covers are celluloid or ?? - looks a little like horn. Without having it in-hand it’s difficult to estimate value. Someone who collects the brand may know more.

According to Levine, there was a German import brand 1880-1915 that was also called Providence Cutlery. He says the American mark was from 1917- 1980's and was a lower end product. I agree the scales look like horn. From your pics, that knife doesn't look "lower end". Like to see a better view of both tang marks if possible, J.O'.

Yes they are bone/horn. Also pewter caps . Thanks again

This one is Providence Germany. Bolsters are not pewter, but nickel silver. It's a shame somebody did the big buff job on the whole knife, detracts from value to most.

Still like to see close ups of those marks. I have a suspicion about the smaller blade. Call me crazy but it looks like it says CASE BROS when I blow it up. O'
