Don’t know the model name of yours or when it was made but today’s prices on some of their models are pretty high.

It might be worth your effort to find out more about this knife.

Looks like a clone , the D2 gives it away as I don’t think Shirogorov use D2 and it’s something you see a lot on Chinese clones .

A most “affordable” Shirogorov production knife is $650 to start.

Have you ever handled one of these clones? If so any thoughts on the quality of them?

Can't speck directly to the Shirogorov clones as I have never held one. I have purchased 2 Chinese CRKT clones. The first was a CEO clone that was very close to the real thing in appearance, fit and finish and weight. Obviously, the materials were inferior to the original, but under light use it would be fine. Not sure how much trouble it would be to sharpen, The second was a Redemption folding dagger clone. I loved the look of the knife, but would never spend CRKT MSRP for any knife. My description of this knife mirrors my description of the CEO clone.

Thanks for the input, I have found some clones to pretty close in durability as the original and others to be absolutely junk, I suppose it depends on who is making the clones.

DHGate also sells a bunch of Chinese knockoffs in the $30 range. It's why I would never buy a tactical knife on eBay.

I know nothing about the knife in the original post.

CRKT, the company in Oregon, had some of their knives made in China and, like Buck, probably still have some of their knives made there. Clone, in the context you are using the word, implies counterfeit or unauthorized use of the trade mark. Are you sure the CRKT clones you've seen were not knives CRKT contracted out?

I bought a few Chinese CRKT knives from Fred Meyer at close out prices, 60% & 80% off. They seem O.K. but never displaced traditional knives in my pocket. I'm weak. I have trouble walking past things I do not need when they look like bargains. More recently CRKT started selling traditional slip joints made in China. The two I handled had jigged bone handles and blades marked D2. They were a granddy barlow and a mini-trapper.

MSJ, I am not 100% sure if the knife I posted is not a less expensive version made in China. I used to have a fairly sizable number of CRKT knives years ago, back when they first started out. I remember their stuff seemed to be made mostly in Tawain and a few items in Japan. Now it seems to be mostly a Chi-Com deal and their prices have gone way up from the old days. They have really good designs, but I just don't get many of them nowadays.
