All About Pocket Knives

I'm a knife enthusiast but not a knife nut. I will buy a nice traditional pocket knife if I find it attractive and think I'll use it day to day. I like nice knives and look after them, but they have to be practical for me. I'm a 2 to 3 knives per year type person, with 3 kids and a mortgage I can't afford more than that anyway!

I like GEC as do many, but I don't have the time or interest to be sitting at a computer hitting refresh for a "drop" and neither am I willing to pay scalper prices.

Which brings me to alternatives. It seems like Coopers Cutlery releases last long enough that if someone genuinely wants one of their knives they can get one.

Have people here had much to do with them and if so how do you find them? Qc and function is more important to me than fit and finish but I do like the latter also to be nice.

Appreciate any advice.

I havent had my hands on one but Franks Classic Knives deals them and he only deals pretty good stuff. So, I conclude, Coopers knives are worthy. The Bluegrass Winchesters and John Primbles are pretty nice. I do have a sample of their 1st run production and its pretty good all around.

I believe Cooper’s Cutlery is Gilbert Cooper. If so I haven’t seen much about his knives here lately, but what there is maybe found by using the keyword search function which you can find under Quicklinks on the upper left of this thread. Just click on Search and follow the prompts. Search for “Cooper”.

BTW don’t confuse Bluegrass Cutlery with Cooper Cutlery. Bluegrass Cutlery is located in Manchester OH and to my knowledge is not owned by Gilbert Cooper. Cooper’s Cutlery is in Winchester OH. Different outfit.

I have one of his big chief knives and it comparable to the the queen big chiefs in every way. I've handled several at SMKW and they seemed to be well made. I read that some of his early weed brand left much to be desired. I handled a couple of them at the Gator show and they seemed okay, but needed a good flushing as they seem to have grit in the joints, I've seen new Cases with the same problem, jmho ymmv.

Thank you for the replies, I did email them and when I didn't hear back even downloaded instagram again to message them through there. Haven't had a response yet. I read on another forum that they don't ship internationally so wanted to confirm.
