Welcome to AAPK. Case did make a knife they called a cheetah. A single blade lockback swing guard, it had an etch of a cheetah on the master blade of some models. The cheetah etch did not appear before early 1970s. None had painted handle covers. I don’t recall ever seeing any Case with painted handles, on any knife.

to the friendliest knife site on the web.
I don't have any information other than a memory of seeing one. All metal, painted black with a leaping cat. Someone will have answer, so keep checking back. Again welcome
PS As Ken said it would not be a Case knife.

Sounds like possibly a Mercator.

I think QT has it! That's the only black painted knife with a cat on the handle that I can think of. They were fairly popular back in the late 60s-1970s.
