As some of you know, Sarah fell and broke her neck at the C-2 level, on 18MAY. She was placed in a rigid collar due to her age, seventy-seven.

She subsequently fell again on 5JULY, probably exacerbating the original injury.

After five weeks of testing, scanning and obtaining clearance from her cardiologist, she had bone grafts taken from her left iliac crest and spinal fusion of C-1 and C-2 on 25OCT.

The following day she stood and walked fifty-five feet with a rolling walker and Physical Therapy assistance.

That afternoon, she stated, “I cannot lift my right arm “ and, indeed, it was flaccid with zero muscle tone.

Later that day, same thing with the left.

The surgeon stated this was temporary and most likely caused by edema.

She was transferred to a rehab facility on 27OCT.

She spent seventeen days there and could only be moved from bed to wheelchair and back with a Hoyer hydraulic lift.

She had no appreciable improvement and was transferred to a skilled nursing facility.

Two days after that, she was moved back to the hospital due to an urinary tract infection and started on IV ATBX.

She was seen by the on-call neurosurgeon, who, when he viewed both pre and post operative MRI’s, stated she needed urgent reoperation to reduce significant compression on her spinal cord at the site of the previous surgery.

That will be done today.

There are no promises of improvement, only an end to the progressive damage that has been ongoing since probably 26OCT.

As it stands now, Sarah is functionally quadriplegic with no purposeful use of her extremities.

We cannot live in our hillside split level home that we’ve owned since October of 1979, forty-six years.

We covet your prayers.

Be bold in asking for a miracle from our Father.

Thank you all.

Charlie,
My heart and prayers go out for you and Sarah. I added both of you to my prayer list.
Praying for a miracle!

Heavenly Father, I ask for a miracle healing for Sarah. I ask you to guide the surgeons as the operate on her today, give them knowledge and skills far beyond their education and experience. Give them supernatural abilities to repair Sarah's damaged body. Then Father, I ask for your hand of healing and blessing to be placed on Sarah so she will recover fully and in Your time.
In the name of your son Jesus I ask this,
Amen

I am deeply saddened by this news. As Jesus was provided with help to carry His cross, I pray that now you and Sarah will receive the abundant help that our heavenly Father provides through Jesus. May Sarah experience the healing power of Our Lord with his comforting love.
