All About Pocket Knives

Any information on this poor soul. It’s a heavy one with a shortened blade and missing a scale. Button is really rusty!

That might be "Horster".

Horster was a German cutlery company who had stiletto switchblades made for them in Italy. The blades were shorter to comply with German law.

You young eyed folks! Yes it’s a H but it’s half stamped. Seems like a nice knife too. That button should really be replaced. It’s so rusty. It fires like a demon perfectly. I have an old German sharpening steel that is not useable because it’s pitted. I’m going to harvest the handle and cut a scale from it. It matches the age of this. Not sure if I’m the guy to operate on the business side and replace the button though.

I got it back together. Replaced one scale. ( was missing when I got it).I used an antique steel handle for a donor antler piece. The steel was German but badly pitted. I didn’t do much else,just removed dirt,rust,and replaced all pins. Looks pretty close to when I got it though except for handle is all there. I’m just happy I got it back together and it worked the first try! Thanks to killgar for all his patience with my questions.

Thanks! It’s kind of fun working on one. Right up to the point where it won’t lock or fire. Maybe I should have started with something other than a Rizzuto.

No not this one. The Rizzuto would not work after I put it together. I had to mess with it in ways that didn’t make sense to me but got it to wok. This one was ok the first try.

You've clearly got skills. Not just anyone can take apart a switchblade, rehandle it, then pin it back together AND have it work properly. My compliments to you.

I'm very glad it all worked out. Switchblades are a lot of fun, but when you've put your own efforts into one, and made it better than it was, it adds a whole other level of value and enjoyment.

I have some more rizzuto stuff if you want to try your hand at another project.,enough to do a complete knife plus extras.(white scales)Otherwise it's the ole round file for that batch of parts.
