Any dealings with Jenna7221? I'm following an auction and He or she is seller. I see Dusty Ducks has the same item but I'm not risking the ZT being a fake from him.

Personally, I'm afraid to buy any modern tacticals on eBay because of all the Chinese knockoffs. They even make fake boxes. ::mdm::

So yesterday I asked seller to verify the ZT was made in USA and not a fake. Today I get a response from Dusty Duck. So I assume he and the seller are the same. Hard pass.

I bought my Buck Paradigm directly from Buck. Even though I found it cheaper from other sellers, I have no concerns that it is not a genuine Buck. Sometimes saving a few bucks (no pun intended) just isn’t worth it.

Thanks Mumbley. If your point is that I should buy direct, ZT has discontinued production of the 0393.

My post wasn’t directed to the particular example you cited. It’s more of a general nature. My point is that buying direct from the maker can eliminate buying a fake. We all like a bargain, but if the provenance is questionable in your mind, is it worth it? It’s a decision we all have to make. Obviously if it’s an old knife or discontinued model, buying it from the maker is probably not an option. ::handshake::

I have encountered a fake Benchmade but if you call them, Benchmade is very good about giving you all of the information they have about a particular model, including the weight. The counterfeit models are lighter weight than the original Benchmades, I assume the same would hold true for a counterfeit ZT. If you find a ZT catalog for the year that the knife was produced, it will probably list the weight of the knife. A call or email to Kershaw might get you some more information about whether the knife is legit or not.

Thanks Orvet. I've bought several knives from Grand Prairie Knives over the years and since they were sold out of that model I called them about the ZT. My only concern when I received the knife was that the blue anodizing on the titanium handle was not as bright as pictured. GPK explained they use Windex to super clean titanium before photographing. So I tried that and it worked great until it gets oily again. Anyway, after comparing lengths and weight with factory specs we were convinced the ZT is authentic.

I feel like I dodged a bullet on that purchase but probably won't buy another knife from ebay.
