This seller has SEVERAL fake re-handled buffed-to-death Western Boulder fixed blades. I don't know whether he is aware that they have been counterfeited or not. The original counterfeiter in the Denver area has made many many of them and they have sold by the (hundreds?) on Ebay for several years now at high prices. He sold most of them either as a seller himself or in collaboration with a seller. I think this batch has been re-sold at least once, and now another dealer is giving it a shot.

It is pretty, but that is a crazy price for a repaired knife. As I have said before, I have no problem with people selling repaired or buffed knives - if they represent them truthfully.
I may prefer a knife with patina, but that is okay if someone else wants shiny.
Sellers should just be up front about it.

Wow That is crazy money! I love seeing a good knife mechanic's work...but it should be noted that it is a re-work/repair.

Is the knife fake or rehandled?

They are re-handled knives and sold as originals, sometimes by lying, and sometimes just by omission of the facts, depending on the seller. These have been seeded out on Ebay for a few years now.

I know the seller. He is a really good guy. These swirled handles are everywhere on ebay with the L pattern number.

They sure do look a lot better than the leather handled ones and bring a lot more.

Who did you say was rehandling them?>

I don't know who is re-handling them. The first ones were coming out of locations in the Denver area a few years ago.

Three more examples on E-bay now .I have no problem with re handing a knife to save it .Or putting custom handles on a knife .When selling a knife that has not been described as customized on a e-bay listing is what I would call a fraudulent practice .Near mint and vintage 1950 THEY ARE NOT .
