Help Identifying Green Substance

Seeking some help here ... I have several very nice knives that have a green substance on nickel silver bolsters, pins and shields. This is NOT the soft green verdigris typically seen when nickel silver is in contact with leather for years. Instead, these are hard green deposits that seem to appear when the knives are in contact with some types of foam or other material in display boxes. It will not polish off with a jewelry cloth. I have attached a photo of this and wonder if any of you have seen it, know what it is and know how to remove it. Hoping something will soften and remove it. Thanks in advance for all info.
PS -- Apologies for double posting this. I put it on the General Knife Forum before I found this one.

It's still verdigris, though it may have pitted into the nickel silver.
I would try Simichrome polish, buffed agressively with a soft cloth.
If that doesn't work, a more aggressive method may be in order-sanding the bolsters with fine wet-dry sandpaper and then buffing.

I suspect it might make you feel a little weak and then collapse?
