GEC 34 - wharnie delight

I'll admit I've been preoccupied lately & haven't kept up on the newer GEC's. I saw a reference to the GEC 34 humpback congress on the AAPK members bomb page & thought this was right up my alley. I don't often drop dime on GEC's, but had to when I saw it was available in the faux ivory sides. Got it today & it exceeds expectations - was hoping it was a single spring so it would be nice and thin for pocket carry at the office (check), wharnie blade is BIG (check), fit and finish is top notch - no defects whatsoever, aside from a couple deep rivets which we know is just part of GEC (check), and most importantly to me, both blades snap closed really hard with no blade rub (check).

Really liking this one fellas ... anybody else have one ?

Congrats. Looks like it is built well. I thought about it but am not a fan of the humpback frame or wharncliffe blades longer than my thumb.

Love the nice big Wharncliffe in the single spring humpback frame design but really wanted a Mammoth Ivory handle. BIGHEAD did the mod for me. Lost the slimness of the acrylic scales but it was well worth the tradeoff IMO.

That is a vast improvement on that knife Q. Acrylic can be beautiful but to me it’s impractical. It scratches way too easily and gets slick in hand when you sweat or have anything oily on your hands. Defeats the purpose of a knife. I like the mammoth scales, hadn’t seen that pattern with mammoth before.

I wish that the regular run of 34s had a better selection of covers. Stag would of been great, shielded stag even better. I like the size and the wharnie blade...slim single spring. Wish it was a little more stout to improve the action. But nevertheless, the Bladeforums annual is my favorite of the run and a frequent carry.
