Case guru’s chime in please. The knife pictured here is on eBay & I was curious about the tang stamp. Does this look legit for a hot stamped XX era Case? Looked off to me, but I’m just learning. I’m in no way interested in this knife just checked it out since I’ve never seen one. Thanks for any help.

Very questionable at best. Without even considering the stamp, the fit and finish doesn’t look like Case from that era. “Read the knife, not the stamp”. But I also agree the stamp is wonky.

Ken, thank you. I didn’t even think to look the knife itself over. “Read the knife not the stamp” is going to stick with me. Appreciate your help.

The blade and stamp are authentic, but that is not a Case knife - most likely a Camillus. Someone took a real Case XX 6227 master blade and installed it in a Camillus frame.

Thanks for the input. I’m not a Case collector (I might be if they were affordable though) but trying to ID The fakes. Does a normal Case stamp have the C higher than the other letters? Thank you

Never seen a stamp like that. The "C" is floating high and looks top heavy. It's also l an oval instead of the circle with a gap. The legs on the "A" are too long, below the line of the other letters. The "S" looks like a #8 and is too narrow. The middle arm of the "E" is too high. I have several of those stamps and none look like that. All letters should be same size. And the XX are both top heavy unlike a uniform even weighted XX.

If you look up the knife on eBay you’ll see it has 6227 pattern stamp on the pile side of the master blade. Not sure why the CASE stamp looks so wonky but the blade does look good.
