I have a Remington R4243 Large Camp knife. The Sheepfoot blade is broken, and the can opener/bottle opener blade is also broken.
Questions: 1. Does anyone know where I can get replacements?
2. Will a sheepfoot blade off of another remington knife
work as a replacement. This have a very thick blade.
thanks for any help

I would stick with Remington parts, if it were me. I would shop on eBay until I found a junker with the needed components.
Any of several here on AAPK can do the work for you. They'll be checking in and who knows, one of them may have the parts you need.

If you dont want to wait, I have in the past taken old butcher knives and cut the pattern I need out of them useing high speed dotco,(air Powered) and dont cut to fast so as not to ruin the temper, I personally like useing Victorinox butcher knives and CutCo out of New York has some ammmmmmaazzzingg Steel.
They say there are none sharper out of the box.

oldsmoke,
Thanks for the idea. I thought about getting some 0-1 steel and making the two parts myself. Do you know of anyone who tempers 0-1 steel?

Hey George,
I do that type of work, but do not have the blades for that knife.
As far as who does the heat treating on 0-1.........I don't know. There are some supplyers who have someone to heat treat steel if you buy the steel from them. Texas Knife Makers Supply comes to mind. I think D'holder does heat treating for them, so it should be right.
