Expensive but looks like it would be very good , i liked the way in the video it can sharpen a very small knife where you cant with the Lansky , or the other Work Sharp , whats been your experiance with these ? Thanks .

Great outfit. I have the ken onion model and I wouldnt be without it. I use it mostly for kitchen tools, serrated as well and shop tools, machetes, etc.

Actually, you can sharpen very small blades with a Lansky, you just can't use the blade clamp. Been doing it for 40 years with the same Lansky I bought in 1982.

I have it.
The small blade table works okay for small pen blades and the like. It’s basically a magnetic table with some adjustment knobs. The magnets should be a bit stronger in my opinion but they work as is. It’s actually my least favorite part of the Workshop Professional Precision model. It seems like a low profile clamp setup might have been a better choice but maybe that wasn’t do-able. I love it for just about everything else and I use it often!

Can you clarify what you mean by “the other Worksharp”? I have the Worksharp Guided Sharpening System - it has no problems sharpening very small knives (or anything else).

Can you clarify what you mean by “the other Worksharp”? I have the Worksharp Guided Sharpening System - it has no problems sharpening very small knives (or anything else).

There was the first model in a video with clamps like this one , but they were saying it didnt work as well with small blades because you would hit the clamp insted of the blade , is the Guided one the stones with the angles on the end to help get the correct angle ? I thought about that one as well .

Yes, the Guided sharpener has angle guides on each end. The angle guides are attached by magnets, and are changeable depending on the desired angle. Plus they are optional - if you want to use the platform freehand you can remove or ignore them. For anyone wanting to learn freehand sharpening, this is the system for you because it can literally train your muscle memory to use and hold the correct sharpening angle. But there are no cumbersome clamps, which is a big reason I like it.

I also like the optional pivot-tilt system it has, which makes sharpening curved blades (spay for instance) a no-brainer. Optional, because you can easily lock it out if you don’t want or need it. At first I thought the tilt feature was just a gimmick, but it really works! Last but not least, it’s a LOT less expensive.

I live whrere the Sheapard Hills store is in Lebanon Mo , i may go look today and see if they have it , if i could learn to hold the angle good , that would be alot less expensive for sure .

They probably have it at Shepherd Hills but if not, next time you’re in Springfield check at Bass Pro Shops. Bass Pro had them the last time I was there. You might want to check out the on-line reviews before you try one. Here’s an example.
