Can anyone help me identify this knife?

What is its purpose? I received this from a friend, it is very sharp and am confused by the sheaf. some markings on the blade. ::shrug::

Asian made? The company lit says headquartered in Texas buy it looks Chinese or ????? J.O'.

It's stamped with a Chinese steel.

Indeed my friend, I don't disagree. Op just said he didn't know much about it. To me it looks similar to a kiridashi, albeit a modern version with a different handle orientation. Knowing it's design history would help understand its intended uses.
