All About Pocket Knives

So I bought this G Schrade Presto two-bladed knife yesterday. I had intended to take some better "before" pictures, but I got excited and forgot to take them. I did not go to the knife shop today (it is at my Dad's house), so I began tearing it down out in my van today.
It is a George Schrade Presto, and the blades are full and in good shape, especially considering how badly the celluloid had degraded. They have patina and have been sharpened and used, but are not pitted, rusted, or broken. I removed the handles mostly intact, and I hope to shape replacements out of Acrylic, if I can find some that comes close to matching these original in color. I just want to keep it as close as I can.
I cleaned and removed the safeties, got the buttons moving again, but the blades still would not fire. It appears that the springs are broken or missing. Further diagnostics will have to await a more full teardown for when I can get some shop time, but so far I am pleased with it!

Reverand, that looks like a very interesting, and challenging project. And, like something that I might dive into (but before remembering to take some pictures first.) To steal a line from Star Wars, "may the force be with you". I am very looking forward to an update from you Sir.

I did the same project a while back; hopefully you don’t have as many hiccups as I had.

Here are some hints:
Make sure the entire knife is thoroughly cleaned inside and out with hot water/detergent.
Dry and flush with WD 40.
Make handles out of material stiff enough to offer resistance to the safeties. Masecraft Supply has many appropriate handle materials.
