This month’s store-owner-donated monthly knife giveaway features a very kind donation from the AAPK Store Wayne’s Vintage Knives and store owner Wayne Robertson who has decided to promote his largely USA-made store inventory with an unused vintage Gerber Folding Sportsman II!

This knife comes from Gerber’s vintage Sportsmen line and the Folding Sportsman II was produced between 1974-1985. This knife is now a rare example of Gerber’s tool steel blades. Although the Folding Sportsman II was produced for a decade, the patented grind is as durable and sharp as Gerber’s reputation. This example was never used or sharpened and has been in Wayne’s private collection since it was acquired. This highly collectible Gerber is in mint condition, as the blade is factory perfect and even the brass needs no polishing. The knife comes in a gift box and is believed to be a promotional or service award of some type.
Locking mechanism: Lockback

Handle material: Brass with natural wood inserts

Bolster material: Brass semi-chromed to bright

Liner material: Brass

Thumbnick/stud: Right-handed nail-nick

Blade material: Surgical Stainless Steel

Blade Grind: Gerber's Patented Concave Grind

Blade shape: Trailing point, plain edge

Blade finish: Polished

Blade length: 3 1/2”

Length Closed: 4 3/8”

Overall length: 7 3/4”

I've had my finger on the trigger for a used copy of this knife for quite sometime, and now Wayne has made it possible for me to win what looks like a brand new copy, thanks a bunch Wayne!
