Flip lock German BAZAR springer

Looks like I was wrong, lol.
This one appeared to be a Japanese copy but after I received it, it definitely looks German made.
It needs a kickspring. I’ll have to find a competent, skilled and nice craftsman and have a new one made.
Blade appears 100% unsharpened which is so rare for a German. Maybe it was put away after the spring broke and never used?

It’s a cool old piece. Perfect blade which is rare on a German user knife.

Yeppers, NYW, and if I'm not mistaken, a fairly easy and straight forward slip-in spring project. Of course, if you want to do it right you'd need a repairperson to build and temper a proper spring for it, but in the meantime.....!

It does look German. Nice looking knife!
However, I do believe that most leverlocks of that “time period”, whether German or Japanese, had “dovetail” springs. They would likely need to be shaped to be wedged in from the side, rather than slipped in. (Bill DeShivs would know for certain.). The backspring has to be removed to accomplish that process.
I could be wrong.. I’ve only disassembled a few German leverlocks and only on that was Japanese.

Thanks! I contacted two German switchblade experts to point me in the right direction for the spring repair. I’m told they do mighty fine work that’s undetectable.

I was wrong. Lol. I thought it was Japanese but it’s German. It feels good to admit when you’re wrong. Some people go through life never admiring it…
