Camillus 99 Resto & Mods

This Cammy 99 was in a group of knives that came to me a while back, and I finally got around to doing something with this poor soul. I think it may have the "short line" tang stamp that dates it to 1946-50 (last pic). As you can see in the first 2 pics, the scales were quite shrunken, and although the blades were rusty they are full sized and don't even appear to have been sharpened or used. After disassembling it and cleaning all the parts, I decided leave out the bail, cap lifter, can opener and extra spring to make it a more reasonable EDC with just the spear blade and punch, and I used some brown burlap micarta for the new scales.

Nice save Herb!
Definitely a short line Camillus. They’re often times badly abused and used but always worth saving.

Looks great!
Those knives really "slim" up very well when done that way. I have a Western that I gave a similar treatment, and I LOVE the way it feels in the pocket.
Yours has the added benefit of some great looking micarta, too. A great save!
