All About Pocket Knives

Just wondering if it was a cattaraugus. Just an old wore out knife. Still has a lot of character. No visible tang stamp

If I am not mistaken, that was made by Cattaraugus. Looks like the Catco trapper.
The blades have a lot of pitting which hurts the resell value of the knife, but it should be a real solid user. If only it could tell you where all it has been!

It’s in bad shape for sure. Still displays nicely. I’m like you if it could talk it would have a long story.

CATCO is a mark I've never seen or heard of related to Cattaraugus. Can't find any reference to it in the books/catalogs I have. Don't think I've seen a swell center trapper pattern or a brass-lined lanyard hole. I think the Catt "trapper" pattern is a "70" but no swell center. Please tell us more. Nothing left of the tangs stamps?
Looks like that bolster has been in a vice, maybe some blade changes?? Very interesting, not doubting, just really like to know more about it. Thanks, J.O'.

Looks like the old Cattaraugus B1079 trapper. Was kind of like the Rem. bullet trappers. Pretty hard to find old knife. I think those CATCO shields were used around the 1920's but I'm not positive on that date, may have been later.

Looks like the one in the pic doesn’t have many remains of a tang stamp. Thank you for the info.
