All About Pocket Knives

Bought this at the flea market today. Stamped, '' BRIAN 81 ''. Nice finish on the blade; S-shaped looks way too big;threaded part of tang appears to be broken off; no pommel.
I'm either goimg to deep six the guard nr cut it down considerably. Not sure what the handle will be. Have to weld on a tang extension. Haven't researched the name yet.

Decided to modify a section of an old hatchet handle. Drilled it out using an extra long drill bit. Then using a tiny keyhole saw & a chisel made from an old drift punch, I shaped the hole to fit the tang. Drilled a hole & fitted a screew through the handle & filed it flush. Tomorrow I'll sand it & maybe a bit of varnish.

I really like the shape a hatchet handle brings to a knife handle. I've got some handles that need to be replaced not because of damage or rot, but because they are the wrong size. I have a True Temper boy's axe that was shoved onto a hatchet handle (not a bad combo, but the eye doesn't match up) that is loose, and it's scaring the crap out of me every time I use it (though I have an Estwing, a Stihl, and a Kobalt that get used the most these days). When I get that handle changed out, maybe I should pick up a stick-tang blank and see how it goes.

I have a simple custom fixed blade I got in some of my great-uncle's stuff which I inherited that is finished aside from having the edge sharpened, and it also needs a sheath.
