From plastic stag to real stag

I bought this old Solingen made Voos with a broken plastic handle at an estate sale a few months ago. It's been laying around the shop while I finish other projects. My buddy had given me an elk antler some time back, and the plan was to use this to fix the handle. I had put it off because I had never worked with stag before, and was a little hesitant. But once I got started, it only took a couple of hours to get the handle cut, drilled, sanded, and mounted. I modified a little ignition wrench to remove the brass end screw. Then I cleaned the knife up, sharpened the blade, and put a coat of wax on it. I wasn't trying to make it look new - just a clean, serviceable knife. I love the way the Solingen steel takes an edge, and this thing is a heavy chunk in the hand.

Nice, I really like seeing a piece of stag replace some plastic or low grade material. Looks great and you have improved the knife world a bit with some good craftsmanship and good antler. Kudos.
