Recently, this advertising, lobster, pattern or style of pocket knife, arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. It is a BRISTOL LINE, one blade, two tools (a file and scissors), two tang stamps, 3/4" X 2 5/8" closed, advertising, lobster, pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "BRISTOL LINE (over) GERMANY" The main blade back tang stamp says "ORIGINAL (over) TIDAX" The main handle side says "R.P. THOMAS TRUCKING CO. - Martinsville, Va." This pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did NOT need any cleaning. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.
Caption(s), if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding picture(s).

My wife’s uncle recently passed away and we helped her cousin clearing out the contents. One thing I found was an advertising knife. It is also a Bristol Line. The advertisement says compliments of Schrock Fertilizer Service. I know a Schrock from the greater Peoria Il. Area where uncle Bill spent the majority of his life. He said he had distant relatives in Congerville IL. That had a Fertilizer business.

Here's another Bristol Line Germany knife to add to this old thread. The bakelite handle has shrunk and cracked. Goins Encyclopedia has a very short entry dating the stamp to the post WWII period, 1945-1960. I think the Bristol Line Company may have been a revival of German industry after the war. A few of their bakelite ashtrays can be found on Etsy.

My pleasure, Skip. It does seem like a solid knife.
