All About Pocket Knives

Case knife guru Tony Foster passed away today after an extended battle with cancer. Like him or not, he was quite the character. He put out a Case price sheet for many years.He was well known for his"This ain't Walmart"tags in his display cases at shows.He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

Very sad news , RIP Tony .

Cannot imagine anyone not liking Tony.

He did suffer fools lightly, true and he could be terse, at times.

The man knew his business and Case wasn’t the only brand he was very knowledgeable about.

I loved him.

Spoke to him at every show we attended.

He will be missed.

Last time I saw him, Lexington last August, he still had a huge inventory. Not like he had yesrs ago, but he still had a lot of knives.

Gonna miss him.

I've actually met Tony and bought several knives from him. Never had a problem. RIP Tony

Set up next to him at a few shows in Texas and saw him at many more. He was one of a kind. RIP Tony.

Condolences to his family and friends. I'm pretty sure he attended the SVKCC show because I remember his motto.

I first met Tony 30-40 years ago at a show in Mesquite, TX. He was already recognized as a dealer who knew more about knives than most. Always enjoyed talking knives with him and he always had a great inventory for sale.

He will be missed. We lost a lot of knife knowledge today. There are getting to be fewer and fewer like him. “Who’s gonna fill their shoes?”

I only got to deal with him once. Bought a Case XX 1940-64 from him. He was very nice, knew I was new and, I felt, gave me a break on the price. Bought one of his price lists at the time, too. Most recently saw him at the Pigeon Forge show. Yes, he will be missed.

I will miss bantering with him, was always great to see him. Godspeed, Tony.

I'll miss his stories and he gave me the heads up on a collection of farmers jacks I'm indebted to him for.

XxTested's knife reminds me of Herb Aycock and a great story Tony told me about him.I hope some of you have heard the same story , I don't think I can do it justice. I watched him and Bill Wright buy some of the best old knives I'd ever seen in Atlanta piece by piece, Tony took the Cases and Bill the others.

Tony was a dandy human being. I have always said that he was an 'acquired taste' but once I got to know him, I so enjoyed being around him and visiting with him. He was so knowledgeable about Case and many other brands.
I'll really miss his counsel and his help. RIP ol' buddy!

I once drove to Tony's home in Wando, SC and sold him a large CASE collection (helped pay for my son and daughter's college tuition). He paid me in cash. I should have borrowed the money and kept the knives as they would be worth 4X today. Several of them Tony had never seen before and probably would be very hard to replace. RIP Tony.
