Schrades Going Stag

Here are three Schrades that I put some new handles on for the OKCA show this month.
123OT
This knife had seen plenty of use and had a worn-down blade and plenty of wear to the handles and dings in the bolsters.
I put a new blade in it and ran it through spa. I thought it cleaned up nicely.
I have always wanted to put stag handles on a 51OT, but I always hate to put such an investment in one set of stag scales. I decided I will never modify a 51OT any younger, and with a scarcity of stag and the prices, I figured I better do this one now while someone can possibly afford it.
I found this 156OT last year, I think it was a gun show where I found the knife. And I think I got the stag for the handles at the same show. I used a red G10 spacer near the bolster to accent yet a little bit.
Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Good job Dale, those look fabulous and so much better than Delrin. Where do you get the great antlers? Keep 'em coming, love seeing good stag mods.

I have been buying Sambar stag for years. I keep the sets until I can match the right handles to the right knife.
I think at least one of those sets came from Bob Loveless' estate. I believe it was the set on the 51OT and possibly the set on the 156OT.
These days stag is where you find it, there are not as many places selling Sambar stag as there used to be. I did get some Elk antler in enough quality that I should get a number nice sets from it. Some of it is cut thin enough that it should work nicely on pocket knives without being overly thick.

Though I like the sawcut Delrin, the stag looks so much nicer. Excellent work, Dale!

Thanks for the info. I usually get them at Oregon Antler Works, just wondered. Always looking for better deals. Thanks.
