S&W MP18 difficult to open

S&W MP18 is almost impossible to open with spring lock button. Is there a cure?

I can't help with your questions, Tech, cuz I'm not familiar with that knife, but I'd like to you to AAPK while you wait for someone to answer them!

Might be gunked up, try a wd40 wash then blow it out with compressed air. Might work might not but it's worked for me many times. Cleans the crud out!

Thanks for the WD 40 and compressed air suggestion. Tried that but no luck. Knife is nearly new so not much gunk. Any other ideas?

Check with Bill Deshivs or Muskrat Man. Both members here who work on knife contraptions such as yours. They might be able to repair it for you.

It sounds as if the sliding track inside your knife is binding as the blade comes out, perhaps try 1 or 2 drops of Quick release oil applied into the opening on the top end and let it drip down the inside tracks. It might help.

Might try loosening the pivot screw if it has one. I'm not familiar with that model, hope you get it fixed.
