Not sure if I hit the right topic, but it's definitely customized...I am talking about a Bowie knife blade I received from the owner of Chisholm Western leather, an older in house Blacksmith made this blade and it was put away for at least 10 years I have been told. As it arrived, I was taken by the quality work, the grind and overall design. By the stains due to storage I will say it's 1095 or A2 steel being used!
I wanted this one look like late a Sheffield Bowie which came to the US around 1850's...as my new research tells me most if not all very early Bowies had little or no file work....so take it with a grain of salt...lol...mine has file work, which I love to do!! The brass guard has been fabricated from a solid block of brass with files and lots a Sandpaper. Scales are beautiful Rams horn imported from Tunesia!! I added a Spanish notch and red fiber spacers for looks! I hope ya all like it!! Now need to make a fancy sheath for it...lol
