Busse Knife Group

Post by Paladin »

Guys,
this knife came to me in a recent batch I purchased and I know nothing about the brand. I have searched around and I find lots of info on fixed blade knives of this brand but nothing like this one.
It is 4 3/8th inches long and has micarta handles and I'll attach some photos. I apologize in advance as they are not very good photos.
There is an etch on the mark side of the blade and it is some sort of tough looking icon consistent with what I saw on the Busse web site. On the other side of the blade is BUSSE KNIFE GROUP.
If you are familiar with this one or have any info, I would sure appreciate the input.

Ray

As Sgt Schultz would say, very interesting. I like it. Looks to be well made.

Can't help you, Ray, sorry.
It does remind me of the Thiers brand knives from France, though.
Wow, if that wasn't your target to buy the batch I'm wondering just how nice the targets were!
It's a cool knife, I like it!

My contact got back to me and confirmed what I suspected - it is NOT a real Busse knife.

Busse is still working on producing folders, but have not yet finalized on a design, materials or anything. They haven't even made any prototypes.

My guess is that it is a Chinese BS fake from one of the Chinese design thieves who copied someone else's design and threw in a fake Busse etch. There are several Chinese fakers out there who make cheap copies of real knives and sell them for pennies on the dollar on fleabay and elsewhere.

That's lousy news to receive, Ray.
Oh well, as I always say, "Chinese or not, it's one cool knife", and one I'd be proud to carry or display!

Bummer! Oh well, it is still a neat knife. I'll figure out something to do with it. I think I'll remove the etch and pedal it on its own merits.
Thanks Z for the help on this. I sure appreciate it.

That is exactly like the one I have. They are sure pimping it as a Busse. Makes me wonder about the site.

That DHGate knife is an exact counterfeit of the Busse knife you posted, Ray, right down to the box and blade etch.
I still maintain it's a very nice knife regardless of it's maker though.
As far as wondering about the site's reputability, you will receive your very nice knives from DHG 100% of the time at greatly reduced prices, barring Customs problems, as long as you know what they are and what they aren't.

No, the DHGate knife is not a counterfeit anything. It is a rogue company's attempt to make money by making a fake Busse.

The DHGate "Busse folder" is a simply ANOTHER instance of a Chinese company/government entity not giving a rat's ass about trademarks or patents or any other intellectual property and ILLEGALLY using said trademarks, patents and intellectual property to make a buck.

Busse has NEVER made a folding knife, although there has been speculation about one for years. You can't counterfeit something that has never been made. You can illegally use trademarks, patents, names, IP and Chinese companies do it all the time.
