All About Pocket Knives

Had six little knives stolen out of mailbox I had ordered. I was sure wondering what the 4th one down was. With yellow handle. Any ideas?

I agree with Mark. Al Mar Osprey or maybe an Al Mar Hawk.

Thank you. That’s the first time that has happened to me. Post office says they were on top of my driveway when it was scanned. He has got in a bad habit of leaving the door open. I believe someone just couldn’t resist. I was anxiously awaiting their arrival. Had one of them little switchblades along time ago.

With every fiber of my being, I hate to say that it happens, but it does.

The exact same thing happened to me. I had a Compact Disc (CD) in transit to me with all of my military information on it. The disc was requested by the Department of Veterans Affairs and I planned to use the information on it to benefit me in my retirement.

I called the Post Office the same day it was "Delivered" because I never got it. Same deal. It was scanned in my driveway. That was more than 2 years ago and I still have never seen that disc. The Department of Veterans Affairs ordered a second disc and I never got that one either. The whole thing was just a huge waste of time.

Post office said there was nothing they could do. They had done their job. Thought about asking around the local store. There is a couple people I see sometimes walk by. I’m gonna ask them if they seen anyone in my mailbox. I know it won’t do a bit of good. But it did make me invest in some cameras. I know something else could have happened to them. But I can’t stand a thief.

Sorry to hear about the loss, but the knife does appear to be an Al Mar Osprey, because it does have the ring on the end so that it can fit on a keychain. The Al Mar hawk did not have the keyring loop.
Judging from the color I would say it was one of the early Al Mar as it's made with the original Ivory micarta handles. A rare knife and they usually bring a pretty good price, though that one seems to have been used a good bit, it still could bring $100 or more to the right collector.

That REALLY sucks, Mike.
I can't say I've ever experienced a mailbox theft, but every time Customs seizes a knife from my mail it feels like I've been robbed!
This is just the tip of the iceberg in relation with what's wrong with this world, it's gonna get so much worse when the masses start fighting back.
I am in full agreement with Dale that the knife in question is an Al Mar "Osprey"!

It is a sad world we live in now days .I had the same thing happen twice with e-bay orders out of my house box by the drive way .After the second theft I rented a locked P.O. Box to receive my mail . Inconvenience. but no more thief’s .

At the very least I would file a report with the Regional Postal Inspector's office and let them say there is nothing they can do.

I mailed $100 in cash to my grandsons that never made it there. Put the birthday cards in an 8 1/2” x 11” brown envelope and folded it in half - taped, stamped, and put in my mailbox for the carrier to pick up. Nothing about it to indicate anything valuable inside and certainly nothing about it that would make anyone think money was inside. Since it was First Class Mail, no tracking. Did it get picked up? Did it leave my Post Office? Was it intercepted somewhere along the way? Did it disappear from the mailbox at my grandsons’ home? Something I’ll never know - local Post Office was no help - but why that one piece of inconspicuous mail? Some postal worker opening mail to see what’s in it? Hmmmm?

Almost sounds as if someone has some sort of X-ray machine and is looking into the contents of the envelope.

I've often wondered about sending cash through the mail, properly disguised there's no good reason it shouldn't breeze right through, and fortunately the one time I tried it it arrived unmolested, but the post office always advises against doing this.
Worst part is disappointing the kids!

Oh, they weren’t disappointed. They got their $50 apiece - in the form of an e-gift card! Wasn’t going to take a second chance on losing money. That extra $100 coulda bought me a really nice knife!

I will NEVER send cash through the mail again. I sent a money order (wasn’t a choice this time) a few weeks ago, and even the guy at the post office recommended sending it by certified mail - which I did!

When I contacted the post office they said according to gps the mailman was at our box when it was scanned as delivered. I really have a hard time seeing someone getting it out of the box. The mailman stopped said he remembered putting it in there. The post master said as from their end it looked like they had done their job and there was nothing I could do. I kept looking at the pic of them getting angry. But it’s out of my control. I did put a camera up with the mailbox in clear view.

hope I never have to look at it for that reason.
