Novelty Cutlery Co. & Novelty Knife Co. difference?

According to Goins' the Novelty Cutlery Company was started by Agustus Vignos in 1879. The company went out of business in 1948. I see a lot of Novelty Knife Company knives for sale on eBay and they are definitely 1970s vintage. Apparently both companies are confused as the same company. Is there any history or information about the Novelty Knife Company? I see a lot of those knives for sale on eBay and often the tang is only stamped U.S.A. Of course, they advertise everything on the scales including old Movie Western Cowboys, Baseball Players, Cartoon Characters, and lots of Coca Cola.I can't find anything online about them. I assume somebody purchased the brand name of Novelty and started making knives after 1948. Any information would be appreciated.
